The mill was built in the traditional Dutch style on the farm Bolleholm near Kristianstad in the year 1844.
It was owned there by Håkan and Maria Jönsson. Albert Sjöman (also called the Dutchman) bought the mill for money he earned on the gold fields in Australia.
The mill was taken down and eventually arrived by sea to Grönhögen. The mill's operations as a mill lasted
until the end of the Second World War when wind-powered mills became obsolete.
The mill was then used as a firestation before it was renovated into a restaurant in the late 1970s. In a pleasant atmosphere and surroundings with outdoor seating in the summer, there is something for all tastes here, from pizza to á la carte and children's menu.
In our charming community there is Grönhögen's Golf Course, Grönhögen Padel & Sportcenter, the excursion destination and the bathing area in a limestone quarry called in swedish "Kalkbrottet" , Food Store ICA grönhögen, Gallery & Café Båthuset. A stone's throw away you will also find Eketorps borg and Ottenby with its stately lighthouse Långe Jan. Take your time and drive down to southern Öland to experience nature and a warm welcome to us at Kvarnen.
